SCI Professor Martin Weiss is the recipient of the 2021 Provost's Award for Excellence in Doctoral Mentoring. This award annually recognizes outstanding mentoring of graduate students seeking a research doctorate degree.
Weiss teaches in the Department of Informatics and Networked Systems. He has performed techno–economic research in telecommunications and telecommunications policy over the past 20 years, including studies of the standardization process, economics of VoIP, economics of internet interconnection, and most recently cooperative secondary use of electromagnetic spectrum. He teaches introductory telecommunications/networks courses and classes on management and telecommunications policy.
