If you have any questions regarding our undergraduate programs or the undergraduate admissions process (for either first-year or transfer students), please contact or schedule an appointment with a representative of the Office of Admissions at pitt.admissions@pitt.edu or at (412) 624-PITT [7488] (Option 1).

Graduate Student Information Sessions

These sessions cover basic information about degrees, graduate student experiences, and application processes specific to SCI. Each session will provide plenty of time for questions with an admissions representative from the school.

If none of the scheduled sessions are available for you to attend, please contact Jane Smith for alternative virtual visit options.

Do I receive an application fee waiver for Graduate Student Information Sessions?

Currently enrolled Pitt students are automatically eligible for an application fee waiver. For currently enrolled Pitt students, you can request a waiver by emailing sciadmit@pitt.edu from your Pitt email address.

All other applicants: To help you navigate degree options, application processes, expectations, and to bring questions, an application fee waiver is offered to those who attend a master’s or PhD information session with SCI. RULES AND RESTRICTIONS APPLY:

  • You must attend the full presentation: Information Sessions comprise of a presentation and an open Q&A for a total duration of 1 hour. At minimum, attendees must attend the full presentation to receive a waiver. All are welcome to stay for the Q&A.
  • Use the correct name in the session: Attendance is verified by matching the name of attendees against registrations for the session.
  • Ensure your registration info is correct: Fee waiver codes are sent to the email address provided in registration. Your correct name, email address, and program of interest should be provided when signing up.
  • Attendance provides one SCI fee waiver: We will waive one application fee for information session attendance. The fee waiver can only be used for a program in the School of Computing and Information.
  • Duplicates and multiples are monitored to ensure several waivers are not issued for the same application.
    • You should not attend the same Information Session twice. If you wish to receive a fee waiver for a second master’s or PhD application, email Jane Smith to request a second virtual visit option.
    • You may attend one master’s Information Session and one PhD information session if you wish to receive a fee waiver for one master’s and one PhD program application.
    • We will not provide more than 2 fee waivers as outlined above. If needed, you may email Jane Smith to discuss program options.
  • This fee waiver policy is subject to change.

If you cannot attend an information session, alternative virtual options are available. Please email Jane Smith, graduate admissions manager, at jeb286@pitt.edu for more information.
