Record Number Attend Dean's Spotlight Lecture on Jan. 10, 2023

What a way to help celebrate the School of Computing and Information (SCI)'s fifth anniversary: a record number of people attended the second of four SCI’s Dean’s Spotlight Series lectures, on Jan. 10. About 60 people walked through the doors of SCI’s recently opened 130 North Bellefield Ave. location to attend “AR in the OR: An Interdisciplinary Journey Towards the Holographic Operation Room” while 33 people virtually attended the collaborative event.

The holiday spirit was alive and well at Sennott Square and the Information Sciences Building on December 12! That's when students, faculty, and staff were able to take a break by enjoying more than 600 cookies and other treats donated by other faculty and staff. Take-out boxes were available for those on the run to finals!

The "Pittsburgh cookie table"-themed mini-bash was part of SCI's fifth anniversary celebration taking place this year.

CS Faculty Member Presents on Experience Developing Indoor-Outdoor Path Recommendation System to Provide Inclusivity

Dr. Panos Chrysanthis, a professor in the Department of Computer Science, presented a talk on his indoor-outdoor path recommendation system, CAPRIO, at the University of Cyprus. The talk centered on the CAPRIO team’s experience developing the system to be inclusive to users from all backgrounds and how they achieved that inclusivity.

SCI Academic Records Team Utilizes New Degree Audit Dashboard

DINS Faculty Members Wins Test of Time Award for Paper at ACM SenSys 2022

Dr. Pengfei Zhou, an assistant professor in the Department of Informatics and Networked Systems, won the Test of Time Award at the 2022 ACM Conference on Embedded Networked Sensor Systems (SenSys) for his paper "IODetector: A Generic Service for Indoor Outdoor Detection" published ten years ago.
