CS Faculty Member Presents on Experience Developing Indoor-Outdoor Path Recommendation System to Provide Inclusivity

Dr. Panos Chrysanthis, a professor in the Department of Computer Science, presented a talk on his indoor-outdoor path recommendation system, CAPRIO, at the University of Cyprus. The talk centered on the CAPRIO team’s experience developing the system to be inclusive to users from all backgrounds and how they achieved that inclusivity.

DINS Faculty Members Wins Test of Time Award for Paper at ACM SenSys 2022

Dr. Pengfei Zhou, an assistant professor in the Department of Informatics and Networked Systems, won the Test of Time Award at the 2022 ACM Conference on Embedded Networked Sensor Systems (SenSys) for his paper "IODetector: A Generic Service for Indoor Outdoor Detection" published ten years ago.

The School of Computing and Information was born five years ago when the School of Information Sciences, the Department of Computer Science and the Intelligent Systems Program came together to form the first new school at Pitt in more than 20 years.

“What the school has emerged to being — and we’ve been founded in and now we’re actually seeing that — is this highly collaborative, highly connected, the word I like to use is ‘transdisciplinary’ school,” Dean Bruce Childers said on SCI's evolution.
