Charlotte Chung (MLIS '21) receives 2023 American American Association of School Librarians Innovative Reading Grant

Please join us in congratulating Charlotte Chung (MLIS '21) on receiving the 2023 American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) Innovative Reading Grant! This $2,500 grant "supports the planning and implementation of a unique and innovative program for children that motivates and encourages reading, especially with struggling readers".

Embracing Change: ChatGPT in the Classroom

In November 2022, ChatGPT, a generative artificial intelligence (AI) software produced by the company OpenAI, was released to the public. Three months later, the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Teaching and Learning hosted its first event meant to address ChatGPT’s presence in the educational environment. 

IS Alumna Published in Frontiers Virtual Reality Journal

Alumni of the School of Computing and Information (SCI) are always up to amazing things! Recently, Maria Harrington, PhD (IS ’08) was invited to write a review paper of all of her work and findings over the past fourteen years. The paper, “Virtual Nature Makes Knowledge Beautiful” has been published in Frontiers in Virtual Reality, a premiere international peer-reviewed open access journal.

ISP Director, DINS Professor Peter Brusilovsky Selected for 2023 Chancellor’s Distinguished Research Award

Peter Brusilovsky, the director of the Intelligent Systems Program and a professor in the Department of Informatics and Networked Systems, was selected for a 2023 Chancellor's Distinguished Research Award.
