Empowering Discovery
Employers seek students who have learned by doing, ask bold questions, and generate new innovations. Undergraduate research isn’t just for future PhD students; it’s a powerful learning experience that deepens critical thinking, inspires creativity, and connects classroom learning to real-world challenges.
Experience is the Differentiator
Many undergraduate students often lack the resources, mentorship, and time to engage in research without financial support. As many research opportunities are only for graduate students, this SCI initiative opens the door for undergraduate exploration, and is essential to prepare students for a rapidly changing digital world.
Turning Students into Knowledge Creators
By providing paid opportunities, mentorship, and resources, we make research accessible to all students. Students work alongside faculty on real-world challenges, from climate change to social justice to digital innovation.
Funding Needs
To expand access and increase our impact, SCI is seeking:
- $3,500 to fund one paid summer internship. There are multiple internships available.
- $11,000 to support graduate student mentors and program leads (for 10-15 students)
Your investment will directly enable more students to gain critical computing skills, regardless of their background or field of study.
