Early opportunities when starting college can shape a student’s experience for years to come. With dedicated, targeted programs, students can begin their Pitt journey with confidence and a sense of belonging.
Belonging Starts Before the First Class
SCI UBelong provides an empowering start to life at SCI. Students in the program move onto campus early, build friendships, explore Pittsburgh, and connect with SCI faculty and staff before Welcome Week begins. This launchpad for student success was developed through the SCI Learning Academy, a leadership opportunity for SCI faculty and staff that fosters leadership skills to make meaningful change at the school.
Confidence, Community, and a Head Start
SCI UBelong welcomes incoming first-year students, increases student retention, and builds a sense of belonging from day one. These students begin their college journey ready to engage, connect, and thrive in the SCI community.
Funding Needs
To expand access and increase our impact, SCI is seeking:
- $10,000 to support 15 students, scaling to $30,000 a year over the next few years to support up to 45 students
- $100,000 as a gift to endow a portion of the program
Your investment will directly enable more students to gain critical computing skills, regardless of their background or field of study.
