3Sixty Program

Empowering Every Student with Computing Knowledge

Every field is shaped by data and technology, and despite rising demand, opportunities for those not from computing and information backgrounds are limited.

Computing Skills Are New Literacies

As industries change and data-driven decision-making becomes foundational in every sector, employers increasingly seek graduates who can think computationally, work with data, and adapt to emerging tech - regardless of their academic background.

Opening Doors for Everyone

3Sixty opens the door to computing and information for all Pitt students. Through a community-focused, entry-level model, students gain real skills and contribute to projects. With this early exposure, students build confidence, connections, and career readiness both at Pitt and beyond.

Funding Needs

The 2025 class is expected to have about 15-20 first-year students with no prior computer science experience.

To expand access and increase our impact, SCI is seeking:

  • $3,500 per student for a summer internship with one of Pitt’s Community Engagement Centers
  • $50,000 will support 15 students for two years

Your investment will directly enable more students to gain critical computing skills, regardless of their background or field of study.
