About

Departments, Programs, and Institutes

Our academic departments and programs empower our students to solve real-world problems in the fields of computing and information, bringing their expertise from our community to the world.

Departments and Programs
Two people viewing a computer with coding patterns
Department of Computer Science

How do you take a problem and abstract it in ways that the computer can understand it, then put the data structure and algorithms in place? Our degree programs give students a deep understanding of computational thinking and the necessary research for future applications.

Department of Informatics and Networked Systems

DINS innovates in education and research at the junction of informationnetworks, and human behavior towards discovering and modeling of new social and technical phenomena. Our academic and research programs explore the connections between people, information, and networks/systems.

ICDS faculty and graduate students
Department of Information Culture and Data Stewardship

ICDS faculty focus on instruction and socially embedded research. This scholarship in computing and information is built on over 100 years of scholarly and pedagogical leadership at the intersection of information, human needs, ethics, and communities.
