Cybersecurity Education for Working Professionals

Students begin with asynchronous online modules so you learn on your terms and ends with synchronous learning alongside students and instructors to give you the personalized, quality education you expect from the University of Pittsburgh.  

Recognizing that one size does not fit all, we offer three distinct pathways that can be taken as-is or customized to develop a curriculum to meet your unique needs. We also offer a boot camp for non-tech professionals to gain the tech skills needed for pursuing cybersecurity education. 

Cyber Essentials

Designed for today’s working tech professional, this pathway can help you master data fundamentals, and transition into a cybersecurity career or help you be more competitive in your chosen field.

Courses:

  • Introduction to Information Security and Privacy
  • Network Security and Monitoring
  • Vulnerabilities, Threats, and Attacks
  • Cybersecurity, Privacy, and Regulations

 Courses can also be taken individually.

Cyber Management

This path is created for professionals looking to move into management or for those already in management. Lead the way in protecting your organization’s data, networks, and infrastructure.

Courses:

  • Introduction to Information Security and Privacy
  • Vulnerabilities, Threats, and Attacks
  • Cybersecurity, Privacy, and Regulations
  • Risk Management and Governance
  • Applying Privacy-Enhancing Technologies

 Courses can also be taken individually.

Cyber Boot Camp

This pathway provides hands-on experience for those  interested in software security, software development, and penetration testing.

Courses:

  • Introduction to Information Security and Privacy
  • Network Security and Monitoring*
  • Vulnerabilities, Threats, and Attacks*
  • Offensive Boot Camp I: Understanding Vulnerabilities & Exploits  
  • Offensive Boot Camp II: Penetration Testing 

Courses can also be taken individually.

*Note: Students can test out of these courses for this track.
