Wes Lipschultz is the Senior Director of Student and Academic Affairs in the School of Computing and Information at the University of Pittsburgh. He provides strategic leadership focusing on the student experience in a school that serves over 1,000 undergraduates and over 1,000 graduate students enrolling in nearly 30 different academic programs (majors, minors, graduate and undergraduate certificates, Master’s, and doctoral degrees). His purview spans student recruitment, admissions, advising, student success, enrollment, extracurricular experiences, graduation, and student information systems.
Prior to his 19 years at Pitt, Wes spent 12 years as an academic advisor and advising administrator at the Pennsylvania State University. He advised pre-major undecided and exploratory students interested in over 250 different majors and engineering pre-major students interested in over 15 different degree programs, meeting one-on-one with over 3,500 students over the course of his advising tenure. For 9 of his 12 years at Penn State he assisted in the coordination of placement testing of 14,000 new students per year across 19 Penn State campuses, and in the coordination of first-year orientation and advising for approximately 6,000 new students per year at the University Park campus. Wes’ graduate background is in Social Psychology and Instructional Systems.
