DINS Faculty Members Receive NSA/NSF Grant for GenCyber@Pitt Program

Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim, a teaching assistant professor in the Department of Informatics and Networked Systems (DINS), and Dr. Balaji Palanisamy, an associate professor in DINS, received an award from the National Security Agency (NSA) and National Science Foundation (NSF) to host the GenCyber@Pitt program in Summer 2023.

The first GenCyber program in the Pittsburgh region, GenCyber@Pitt will host 30 multidisciplinary high school teachers who are interested in providing exposure to cybersecurity and deeper exploration of the topic for interested students. In addition to the camp, the program will offer pre-camp activities and post-camp support.

The program team also includes Dr. Sherif Khattab, a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, Dr. Prashant Krishnamurthy, a professor in DINS, and Susan Tanski, an instructor at Woodland Hills Junior Senior High School, who joins the team as a K-12 pedagogical expert.
