SCI Alumna Publishes Book Offering Guidance for Librarians

SCI alumna Tina Buck recently published a book offering practical advice to librarians hoping to transition into a different type or size of institution.  The book, titled Guidance for Librarians Transitioning to a New Environment, is published by Routledge and co-written with Sara Duff.  The authors draw on their own experience as well as surveys and interviews to cover such topics as how librarians can orient themselves to their new library, add context to their CV or résumé, get started with presenting and publishing, and manage culture shock and emotions.  The book serves as a field guide for librarians considering or in the process of making a career move, as well as a helpful resource for library science school faculty, career counselors, and library managers advising current students or new hires.

Tina Buck received her Masters of Library Science from SCI in 1992.  She is currently the Electronic Resources Librarian at the University of Central Florida and has worked in public libraries of varying sizes.
